Tammy Blea - Salon Owner

Tammy has been doing hair for over 19 years.  A native New Mexican, she has worked in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Germany.

"My goal is to separate and raise the respect of our profession.  I am also passionate about giving struggling stylists and artists a pride in something that they love to do, and show them that a career in this field is very profitable if done right.  Lastly, I want to give them stability and job security with benefits as part of a successful team."

She moved to the Downtown location at 311 Gold Ave. SW in December 2007.  After realizing that this space was not being utilized to its full capacity she decided to open an Arts & Crafts Fashion Boutique inside her salon.  Thus TrendBenderz was born!

David St. James - Stylist

David says "I got my first pair of clippers in middle school, which was pretty much the catalyst for doing hair."  He was originally planning on being a barber but, after being prompted by his family, enrolled in cosmetology school.  David has been doing hair professionally for 9 years.  He has spent the majority of his career in New Mexico but worked for one year in New York City.  He is a highly talented and conscientious stylist who takes time to make sure that his client looks PERFECT before they leave.

Al Valenzuela - Stylist

"Hi, my name is Albert Valenzuela and I've been in the Beauty Industry for over 20 years.  Growing up with 3 sisters was where I first realized that I enjoyed working with my hands as a beauty artist.  I enjoyed making my sisters feel really special when I would just braid their hair.

Hair is still my passion, especially when I see a burst of smiles when I complete my final touch.

The majority of my career has been spent here in Albuquerque.  I got my first break at Great Expectations.  After its doors closed in '95 I went to work at Classique Hair Trends on Montgomery.  My last place of employment was Lorenco's on San Mateo.

Early in my career I participated in some local Hair Shows and Competitions but now I just enjoy doing hair behind the chair."
